This study analyzes the contribution of kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) farming income to the total household income of farmers in Bunut Hilir District, Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan. Kratom has become a major alternative livelihood as rubber prices have fallen sharply, yet it faces challenges such as price fluctuation, high production costs, and uncertain legality. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method, using purposive sampling on 97 kratom farmers out of a total population of 2,517. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using income and percentage contribution analysis. The results show that the average net income from kratom farming reached IDR 29,629,000 per farmer annually from a 2-hectare farm, with production of around 2,600 kg per harvest season. The average contribution of kratom farming income to total household income was 64%, indicating a high dependence on kratom as the main livelihood. With the enforcement of Ministry of Trade Regulation No. 21/2024 on the legality of kratom exports, the study recommends strengthening market access, technical training, and legal assurance to enhance farmers’ welfare and the sustainability of kratom agribusiness.
